I have been loving the trend of a single edge of zipper as decorative detailing. This rosette headband uses the effect with very cool results. It’s called The Zippy, and was created by blacksatinshoes on etsy.

These simple crochet and pom pom garlands that grace the windows of Home Ec in Los Angeles are a fantastic way to add charm not only for the holidays, but any time of year. Our pal, Jenny Ryan, shares how they were created.
My pals Jess, Lauren & I made lots of yarn pom-poms, which I turned into garlands with some thin wool yarn (pink, green, & fuschia). Then I crocheted some non-pom-pom garlands from all different shades of yarn, done in chain stitch.

I’m an avid sewer and I always have my sewing machine on craft table so that it’s always on hand for a project or quick fix. Plus, just the sight of my sewing machine makes me happy. Betz White Fabric - Indian Summer ($22.00)
Get this 5 piece sample set of Betz White fabric that’s perfect for quilting, craft, projects, home decor, or apparel. I love the rich colors and patterns.

This crocodile softie from Laura at We Wilsons brings a big, toothy grin to my face. It’s sheer genius to take rickrack and a zipper and use them for what they are surely longing to be used for. Best of all, she’s offering the pattern for free if you upload a photo of something you made from one of her patterns to the We Wilsons Flickr pool!
The offer stands until December 14th, so hop on over to her site for her free tutorials (like the dust mitt tutorial, the swatch frog that uses every scrap of a fabric swatch, or her kangaroo pocket tutorial), or head over to her Etsy shop where you can buy her adorable patterns like this giraffe, this flying pig or this flip doll. If you’re feeling lazy, she even has some plush kits
